Using a WHOOP strap independently: setup and membership limits

Understand EveryBand’s direct Bluetooth route, supported WHOOP models, local scoring, history trimming and separate membership obligations.

Boop is becoming EveryBand. The iPhone app and TestFlight listing still use Boop for now.

Last updated: October 16, 2026

Separate the app connection from your membership

EveryBand connects directly to supported WHOOP straps over Bluetooth and processes available observations on your iPhone. This route uses EveryBand's own estimates rather than WHOOP's cloud scores. It does not require an EveryBand account or recurring EveryBand plan.

Using another app does not cancel, pause or change a WHOOP membership. Your billing commitment, device ownership and access to official services remain governed by your WHOOP account and terms. Check those before making a purchasing or cancellation decision.

The website is EveryBand; the installed app is still named Boop during the transition. Check TestFlight for available builds and device requirements. A successful connection does not establish that every feature works on every firmware version or after every future vendor change.

Check your exact strap and required features

Direct integration covers WHOOP 4.0, WHOOP 5.0 and WHOOP MG with model and firmware limits. The compatibility page distinguishes tested behavior from unvalidated outputs. Unrecognized history formats remain unavailable.

EveryBand does not recreate every official sensor feature, proprietary algorithm, coaching service or account history. MG ECG and WHOOP 4.0 temperature and oxygen calibration are not validated. Decide which measurements you need before assuming an independent app can replace your current experience.

A similar score name also does not mean the same formula. EveryBand's Sleep, Recovery and Strain are independent wellness estimates that require sufficient available evidence.

Pair the strap and complete a first sync

Charge the strap, keep it nearby and enable Bluetooth. In Boop, open Settings, then Pair a new strap. For a new band, use pairing mode with blue lights blinking, choose Find a new strap and select it in Apple's accessory sheet. Choose an existing band under Saved straps when reconnecting.

Read the onboarding acknowledgements before enabling history offload. Keep the app open for the first import and check its local connection status and activity log. If the strap is already system-connected, it may not appear in a normal scan; the saved-strap path can matter.

Apple Health access is optional. It can add available context or receive permitted exports, but it is not required for the supported local Bluetooth path.

Understand the history-trim warning

After EveryBand successfully saves and acknowledges strap history, it may trim that acknowledged history from the strap. Trimmed records can then be unavailable for the official app to retrieve. This workflow requires explicit acknowledgement during onboarding.

That is different from WHOOP's account-retention policy. WHOOP's current cancellation guide says past account data remains viewable after cancellation, while new collection, upload and analysis stop. Preserve any history you need through the appropriate official export controls before changing your workflow.

Handle billing through the official account

WHOOP's cancellation options depend on your plan and commitment. Its current guidance directs members to the Membership section at app.whoop.com. Cancelling can schedule the end of a term rather than end remaining payments immediately; trial returns have their own requirements. Follow the current official guidance for your account.

EveryBand's planned model is a free download with optional one-time Boop Full and no subscription. TestFlight purchases are free sandbox transactions and do not transfer to App Store purchases. See pricing for the current distinction.
