EveryBand vs Apple Health: how they work together

Apple Health gathers and manages health records. EveryBand adds supported strap access and independent insights, with optional Health permissions and clear score limits.

Boop is becoming EveryBand. The iPhone app and TestFlight listing still use Boop for now.

You can use both for different jobs

Apple Health gathers health information and gives you controls over its sources and app access. EveryBand can read supported Health records, add its own independent interpretation, and optionally export permitted records from supported straps. You can keep Health as your shared record while choosing whether EveryBand adds useful context.

Health is more than a database. Apple's health features include trends, sleep-related insights and device-specific health experiences. EveryBand does not claim that Apple lacks insights or that another score automatically improves the information you already have.

Not every Health category is available from every device. EveryBand's compatibility page describes its current input path rather than promising support for any device that writes anything to Health.

A Health reading does not guarantee Recovery

EveryBand's documented Health HRV input currently uses SDNN. Its local nightly HRV estimate uses RMSSD, a different calculation. Apple's platform also documents an RMSSD quantity; the presence of that platform type does not establish that EveryBand imports it.

Current Full Recovery requires local nightly RMSSD, resting heart rate, Sleep and enough complete prior nights. Imported SDNN stays separate and does not substitute for missing RMSSD. An Apple Watch-only setup can therefore display useful Health records while EveryBand Recovery remains unavailable. The Apple Watch recovery guide explains that boundary before you invest time in setup.

Keep source and permission choices visible

Apple explains how to inspect and prioritize sources when several devices or apps contribute the same category. Start there when records appear duplicated, delayed or different across apps. EveryBand cannot read a night that the originating source has not saved or shared.

You can use EveryBand's local strap path with Health export off. If you enable Health writes, other apps can read eligible records only with their own permissions. EveryBand does not send data directly to those apps. Apple Health synchronization and device backup follow your Apple settings; local EveryBand processing does not change those choices.

Who should add EveryBand?

Stay with Apple's built-in experience if its records and insights answer your questions. That avoids maintaining another interpretation layer. Device health notifications or medical features should be evaluated on Apple's own supported-hardware and regional terms; EveryBand does not replace them.

Consider EveryBand if you want supported direct strap access or its specific wellness and training views, and accept their data requirements. The app remains a beta listed as Boop in TestFlight; App Store release is pending. Boop Full adds views, not missing measurements, and TestFlight sandbox purchases do not transfer to the App Store.
