Apple Watch recovery: what your Health data can show

Understand Apple Watch data in EveryBand, why Health HRV differs from local nightly HRV, and when Recovery can remain unavailable.

Boop is becoming EveryBand. The iPhone app and TestFlight listing still use Boop for now.

Start with the records your Watch has saved

EveryBand can read optional Apple Health records without a strap. An Apple Watch can contribute sleep, heart rate, activity and other supported categories through Health. EveryBand reads those saved records on your iPhone. The current product has no watchOS app or continuous live Watch connection.

A visible Health measurement does not guarantee a Recovery score. In the current method, EveryBand's documented Health HRV input remains a separate SDNN measurement; Full Recovery requires local nightly RMSSD, resting heart rate and Sleep, together with enough complete prior nights. A Watch-only setup can therefore show useful records while Recovery remains unavailable.

The public brand is EveryBand; the installed app and purchase labels remain Boop and Boop Full during the transition. Check TestFlight for the builds and requirements available to your device.

Connect only the Health categories you want

Choose Apple Health on Your data during setup and grant the categories you want the app to read. Apple Health is optional. Each category depends on both permission and a record actually being present.

Before troubleshooting a score, open the relevant category in Health and check its recent records. A night missing there cannot arrive in EveryBand through Health. If another device or app provides the record, that source also controls what it shares and when.

Read access and export are separate choices. Allowing EveryBand to read sleep does not automatically authorize it to write sleep, workouts or HRV back to Health.

Understand the two HRV measurements

Apple documents SDNN as a specific Health HRV quantity, which EveryBand uses for its documented Health HRV input. EveryBand's local nightly RMSSD estimate uses a different calculation and its own coverage and quality gates. The two values should retain their measurement labels.

A larger number in one category does not establish better recovery than a smaller number in the other. Changing devices, timing or measurement method can change a reading even when your day feels similar. The methodology explains the current inputs and limits.

Give missing scores a useful explanation

Full Recovery needs the current required inputs and at least two prior complete baseline nights. More history gradually strengthens its personal reference. The baseline requirement does not turn Health SDNN into RMSSD and does not make an incomplete night complete.

When Recovery is unavailable, check which input is missing rather than repeatedly changing permissions. Sleep or activity may still be useful on their own. Avoid manually adding an HRV value just to unlock a score: that changes the record without supplying the missing measurement evidence.

Read the trend with its source in mind

Use the same source and measurement label when reviewing changes. Look at the recorded time, sleep coverage and recent context before interpreting a surprising value. A delayed source update can change what is available after you first open the app.

EveryBand makes independent wellness estimates. It does not reproduce another app's recovery number or establish that a particular workout is safe. If data looks wrong, the Health sync guide provides a practical check sequence.
